give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses...

Back to back entries I must be going insane. I wanted to personally thank those who have contributed to our flood effort here and will continue to give through the Target cards. We have received cards in from all across the country and I hope to continue on with it for the rest of the year. There are still people here whose houses haven't even been touched yet. There are outlying counties and small towns who volunteer organizations are just now getting too...3 weeks later. So I continue to ask for your prayers and if you are a part of a youth group or a non profit who want to help with the volunteer efforts and are just looking for a way to get connected please hit me back.

My second soap box regarding the flood is in regards to benefits....

If you live in Nashville than you know since the flood all you can hear about are music benefits, art benefits, restaurants donating proceeds if you eat there, etc. It has been wonderful to see the city come together and give so much, but in my humble opinion we are TAPPED OUT. We are the ones who lost homes, pets, jobs, and loved ones. We are the ones who have raised millions already through t-shirt sales and phonathons. We are known as one of the most giving areas in the country, but after everything we have been through, with all the continued work that needs to be done, can't it be someone else's turn to give? I hear Palm Beach has a lot of money. :-)

We have a HUGE concert coming up here that basically has every act that has ever lived in Nashville playing it. I am sure it will be a night to remember but I don't know anyone who has the money to go. We already gave our extra money to flood relief.

My suggestion because a wise boss once told me you can't complain about something unless you have a solution; so my solution is that all of these wonderful artists who live here and tour and travel if they really want to help and I am sure that they do because a lot of their homes were affected too, than they should donate a portion of their tour to flood relief. While they are in other cities they should tell our story and take up a donation. We are all benefitted out here. :-)

Quotes and Scriptures to love...

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's no just in some of us; its in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

"Live justly, love mercy, walk humbly with our God." Micah 6:8

"But yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation." Habakkuk 3:18

"The LORD your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing." Zephaniah 3:17
